So, you’re in Hollywood, or maybe planning to go to the capital of cinematography? If you have a working level of imagination, you’ll most definitely find a lot of activities to engage in. But here are the 5 must-do’s you have to follow, if you ever set foot here. Ready? Let’s go then.
The Hollywood Sign
Some will say this is a cliche, but the Hollywood sign is the most famous image of the district. It’s like the Statue of Liberty in New York, or the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Although there are not too many activities you can do near it (you’re not even allowed to go close to it), a proud photo of the sign and you is a total must.
In fact, the famous sign stands on the same spot for around 90 years; it was created in 1923. At first, it was erected for real-estate advertisement and originally read “Hollywoodland” accompanied with corresponding telephone numbers. However, as the real estate company gave up to the Great Depression, the last 4 letters were removed and the sign became the symbol of the most famous LA district.
Hollywood Walk of Fame
The visit to Walk of Fame and photos with the stars of your favorite celebrities is the 2nd must-do on your list. It would be great to meet the actual Woody Allen or Orlando Bloom, but their stone stars are better than nothing.
Interestingly, it’s still unknown where the idea of stars or the walk came from, but the project was opened with 8 initial stars in 1958. Today, there are more than 2,500 stars that include celebrities, projects, and companies. All of them represent the glamour or/and glory of Hollywood.
Universal Studios
Universal is one of the oldest and most popular film studios in the USA. It now has a theme park, which is visited by excited movie fans annually. The park contains everything that might interest a movie-fan. From from behind-the-scenes tours to thrilling attractions themed with your favorite films, this experience must not be missed! You can see a real filming studio, special effects stage, and much more! Basically, they have rides for every huge movie that comes out! Exciting, isn’t it?
If you’re also a hopeless fan of movies, the Universal Studios theme park will be the best place for you in the entire USA. Reserve a whole day for the park.
Madame Tussauds Museum
Madame Tussauds enhances your celebrity experience and takes it to another level. There is no need to compete with Angelina Jolie for a minute of Brad Pitt’s attention. You can simply visit the museum and have a photoshoot with his wax statue instead. Of course, the real Pitt would be much more rewarding, but, hey, work with me here, this is the best we can do for you.
The museum has a wide collection that includes Rihanna, Hugh Jackman, Charlie Chaplin, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, and many many others … seriously, you won’t have time to “chat” with every Hollywood star and character, so organize your visit wisely!
By the way, the museum plans to add Sherlock’s wax statue (Benedict Cumberbatch) later this year. Beware, he might be watching you!
Take Part in the Process
Enough with sites and attractions, it’s time to experience the film atmosphere on your own skin. Get tickets to a TV show taping and watch it from the other side of the screen. Start with the most popular TV shows … or the ones you love. If there are no tapings at the moment, go for less popular shows or pilots. The latter will definitely be available.
Most importantly, don’t lose your head; it’s really hard to resists the temptation and not fall for the childhood dream of becoming a movie star again. But it’s Hollywood, and it was created to blow your mind away!
