As most romantic novels and movies have proven time and again – Europe is the perfect destination for romance. It has some of the most beautiful cities in the world and is sure to leave any couple with unforgettable memories to relish and cherish for a lifetime.
Paris, France

Paris is the city of eternal love and amongst the most romantic places on earth and it just had to top this list. As the home of classic literature and arts, Paris defines the very meaning of Romanticism.
You and your ‘amour’ could laze around the delicate gardens of the city in the day and enjoy a lovely intimate candlelit dinner at night on any of the side walk cafés on its famous cobbled streets at night time. A walk by the River Seine together, a visit to the iconic museums or a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower to soak in the magnificent city below is just a few of the must do’s for any couple in love.
If you choose Paris as the city to visit with your partner yours will be ‘An Affair to Remember’ and much like Cary Grant it will surely have a happy ending.
Vienna, Austria
Vienna is at its very best at spring time, and makes for the perfect romantic holiday. One could see the 400 variety of roses in bloom at Volksgarten or ride on a horse drawn carriage to the landmark Ferris Wheel-Wiener Riesenrad. If you care for a sip of the good old coffee, then you could venture in one of the enchanting chandelier-lit coffee houses or simply stare in wonder at the scenic beauty of the place as you fall in love again your beloved and the city.
You don’t need to be an art lover to enjoy the beauty of the Baroque palaces or to recognize the world-class art at the Schonbrunn Palace. You could have a cozy lunch at the enchanting cafes or stroll at leisure to dial up romance to the next notch.
Venice, Italy
Any passionate lovers’ city is Venice, the occasion could be a honeymoon, a valentine weekend, a milestone birthday or a destination elopement. Venice is sure to leave you speechless.
Can you even imagine anything more romantic than being with your beloved and seeing this city of canals on a gondola? Strolling down the long promenade of Zattere along the south shore, having a lazy lunch at one of the lovely trattorias in an alleyway or staring at the sunset at the pier like Monet are just a few of the things that must be experienced with your loving partner beside you.
The picturesque locales the floating city has to offer are just magnificent and could make for a perfect setting for romance.
Copenhagen, Denmark
The beloved symbol of the city of Copenhagen is the ‘The Little Mermaid’, it is the statue of the character created by Hans Christian Anderson waiting for her beloved sitting at the harbor. This famous statue surely sets the perfect mode for a fairy tale romance.
While here, you just can’t get enough of the night sky at the planetarium as you walk through its cobbled streets and discover new sights and places around the city’s nooks and corners. This city is small and easy to find your way around, one could easily cover most of the tourist spots over a weekend without rushing through any of them. The slow pace of the city will calm you down and provide for the perfect backdrop for passion.
Santorini, Greece
If you wish to spice and heat up your romance, Santorini is the place to visit. It is considered as the most romantic of the Greek islands, just be sure you are holding your loves hand as you gasp at the whitewashed buildings. The blue waters at sunset will leave you a happier lot.
The city is sure to intoxicate you from the moment you land ashore. Its red enchanting beaches and a flowing delectable wine at the vineyards as well as the setting of Oia’s pristine architecture is a recipe for love to be in the air. If you are looking for a place where the Greek heritage come alive, look no further than Santorini.
Zurich, Switzerland
The last in this list but by far not the least is Zurich. Mistaken by many to be the capital of Switzerland (instead of Bern), this exquisite city is the most loved city in the country. There may be people who differ in opinion but they could not be lovers on a trip.
Switzerland is the home of romance with the grandeur of Mother Nature in its full show in the form snowy capped peaks and lush green mountains.
It is a winter loving couples paradise. Imagine canoodling with your partner over a hot chocolate next to a toasty fireplace while looking at the snow fall outside the window.
The delicious Swiss chocolate and the scrumptious variety of chesses will leave you and your partner dying for a second treat. The city hosts some of the world’s renowned heritage sites like the eighth century castles and convents the natural parks, the craggy karts, the never ending moors, the grazing ibexes, marmots and chamois in their wild natural habitat.
Remember to visit the local shops to get some traditional souvenirs and handicrafts. Also, take time out to go for a hike together, try and see the salt mines and fit in a picnic on the green hills to make sure your holiday truly justifies all that this city has to offer
