If your body is crying out for a break and your mind is begging for a rest, then maybe it’s time you take a break from the rat race and take some well-deserved rest and recuperation. According to recent studies, nearly 60 per cent of people don’t take their entire four-week allowance of holiday each year, meaning many are left drained and unable to give 100 per cent at work.
So what’s the reason so many hard workers don’t take their full holiday allowance? In the current economy, many believe that it’s too expensive to jet set away for a week or two, and that they’ll end up spending a lot more money than they actually have. This couldn’t be further from the truth however, and from city breaks to coastal getaways, taking time off to recharge your body isn’t as expensive as you think.
Australia is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and from Sydney to Melbourne, Perth to Brisbane, there are a number of amazing places you should experience. Not only does Australia make the perfect holiday, but you don’t have to go to the tourist hotspots to have a good time. Especially when you live in another major city, the last thing you want to do is take a break in the hustle and bustle of another one. Let’s take a look at some of the top tips for travelling around Australia, and see whether or not you can be tempted to take a trip of a lifetime!
Get Organised
First things first – double check your departure time on the day you travel, whether you call up the airport or take a look online. Not only will this help you to organise your time, but there might be some unexpected delays to your plan that you’re unaware of.
Also pack plenty of water for your journey. Not only is the airport expensive (as well as the drinks service on the plane), but your delays might again hinder your departure, meaning no access to H2O! When it comes to your ears popping, make sure you load your pockets with lollipops and sweets for take-off and landing, and remember to take at least one walk every hour down the aisle to stretch your legs, as a flight to Australia can take over 20 hours so remember to keep active.
Know the Australian Climate
Whether you’re staying in a hotel or a hostel, there are a number of elements to the Australian climate that you should prepare for. Make sure that you regularly apply insect repellent when you’re outside, and if you like sleeping with the window open, ensure you have fly screens covering the frame.
When it comes to swimming, only take a dip in the safe zones (between the red and yellow flags). Furthermore, always keep a bottle of water with you at all times. Temperatures in the cities regularly reach the mid-30s before noon, and you won’t want to be retiring to your hotel with sun stroke instead of enjoying your holiday!
