One of the popular advantages of a cruise is the all inclusive aspect, with some cruises offering all-you-can drink packages which can be very attractive and excellent value for money. The trick with these sorts of promotions is to understand what they entail so that you’re not faced with any unexpected bills at the end of your cruise.
Various cruise lines, including Carnival, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean ships, such as the Serenade of the Seas, offer a base price package which, once a fixed price is paid, includes the vast majority of drinks on board – alcoholic and non-alcoholic. While luxury cruises seem to include all drinks within their promotions, base price packages work slightly differently and differ between cruise lines.
Carnival
For £25 per person per day, passengers have the choice from a wide variety of wines, beers, spirits, non-alcoholic cocktails and soft drinks. A maximum of 15 alcoholic drinks are permitted and you also receive a 25% discount on anything that isn’t included. Every adult per cabin must opt in to the deal for you to be eligible and you can only order one drink at a time, but all that being said, £25 isn’t bad when you think about the cost per drink.
Celebrity
There’s a myriad of drinks packages to choose from on a cruise with Celebrity. None of which include the drinks in your mini-bar, and you have to opt in to the drinks packages for the entirety of the trip.
Royal Caribbean
For any trip that’s more than 7 nights long including Caribbean cruises and Med sails, RCI will be offering two drinks packages – classic and premium. They can only be bought on the first night of the cruise but there is no maximum limit, which potentially offers incredible value for money if you like a tipple, or even refreshing soft drinks, while on holiday.
Evaluate whether the amount you’re likely to drink each day is enough to warrant the investment. If so, enjoy the great value for money of an all-you-can-drink package on your next cruise holiday.
