Romantic Lisbon has everything for everyone, and anyone can afford staying and spending some time there, but the hotel we will offer today is for people who would love to pay a bit more for a night stay, have a noise-free night and feel like in a luxurious but homey room.
Along with Heritage Avenida Liberdade Hotel and Britania Hotel, As Janelas Verdes is one of the nicest Lisbon hotels, which might not be a suitable option for a budget traveler but it is not among the most expensive ones either. Note that all these three hotels belong to Lisbon Heritage Hotels, and although As Janelas Verdes is lesser known than the other two, if you have heard of them, then you can easily draw conclusions about As Janelas Verdes.
As Janelas Verdes is located 10 kilometers from the airport. It can be found on Rua das Janelas Verdes, 47 next to the National Museum of Ancient Art. It’s a first class small boutique hotel with three floors and no public elevator.
The history of the hotel goes to the 18th century. The hotel underwent major renovation in the recent years. The last renovation works were carried out in 2005.
As Janelas Verdes has 29 rooms, which come with a free safe, mini-bar, direct dial telephone, satellite TV, hair-dryer, bathrobe, slippers and so on. If you cannot imagine your life without Internet connection, then there is free Wi-Fi. The hotel also offers a computer with a printer. Also, As Janelas Verdes has a library, which is perhaps one of the most attractive points describing this hotel.
The staff at the hotel is multilingual and knowing some Portuguese is not an asset, at least for maintaining communication at the hotel. If you are traveling by car, or have rented one for a few days, then you can take advantage of the hotel’s parking lot. Note that the hotel offers a bar with snacks but it has no restaurant, so you will have to go for eating out in Lisbon. Make sure to try some of the most typical Portuguese foods.
Several things worth knowing: the hotel has no baby-sitting service, so don’t rely on it in this context; if you want to keep fit, you will have to look for a gym or fitness center outside of the hotel; the hotel is not pet friendly, so you will need to either leave your pet at home or choose another hotel; if you are in Lisbon on a business trip and need to have a meeting or a conference, then the hotel cannot stretch a helping hand as it lacks meeting rooms or a business center.
Don’t forget to take your camera, as you will definitely take lots of pictures of not only the green and impressive beauty the amazing garden city embraces, but also of this small but lavish hotel.
