The employees of the Price of Travel have calculated the average cost of stay in the European cities for an average tourist who does not save, but at the same time does not blow the money. The average traveler, according to their research, usually stays in a three-star hotel, can afford a taxi ride a couple of times a day, eats at a restaurant and often orders beer or wine.
For these tourists the best European city where they can have a good rest spending a reasonable sum is the capital of Bulgaria — Sofia. According to calculations of the Price of Travel, overnight stay in the city will cost the traveler about $47. The budget includes the following items: accommodation in a 3 star hotel with a good location, two three-kilometer taxi rides, a visit to one of attractions and three meals a day in an inexpensive restaurant, including alcohol drinks (beer or wine).
The next European cities worth visiting are Hungarian Budapest, where the tourists will have to pay $56 for accommodation, taxi, museum visit and a meal; the Polish city of Krakow ($59) and the capital Warsaw ($80), Romania Bucharest ($61), Czech Prague ($86), Russian St. Petersburg ($91) and the Estonian Tallinn ($93).
Two cities, which are also included in the list of the best and cheapest European cities but are not located in the Eastern Europe, are Turkish Istanbul ($80) and Italian Naples ($94). “Of course we are not saying that this is how much you will exactly spend, but our prices will help you to sort out the cost of staying in a particular city,” the creators of the rating list warn.
It is known that the main item of expenditure for the tourists is the hotel accommodation. Therefore, the experts of the portal specifically separated the hotels that they consider to be most suitable for the tourists, both in price and location. For example, in Sofia, the travelers are advised to stay in the “Hotel Orlando” where the overnight stay cost a total of 26 leva ($19). In Budapest, you can stay in the “Central Green Hotel” for 3,2 thousand forints ($17.5). “ Conrad Hotel & Spa Hotel” in Krakow, Poland, will cost only 80 zloty ($29), while in Warsaw “Rycerska Apartment” will cost about $14.5 for the most expensive room.
“Go Hotel Shnelli” Hotel in Tallinn will cost $21, “Mercure Napoli Garibaldi” in Naples — $9 at most.
The most expensive city in Europe is found to be the Swiss Zurich, where the daily budget of the tourist should be no less than $188.5. For comparison, in Sofia you can live on that money for four days. And just a single night in Zurich’s “Atlantis Hotel” will cost as much as a full day spent at the cities of Sofia or Bucharest. In Italy, except Naples, a relatively inexpensive city is Milan where the traveler will need about $106 a day if he prefers to stay in the “Piccolo Hotel” (about $33 per night). According to the calculations of the portal, an average tourist will have to spend $125.2 per day in Moscow if he stays in “Maxima Slavia Hotel” (Yaroslavl highway, 6 km from the metro ENEA, with the cost of 1800 rubles (about $65)).
The cheapest city in France turned out to be Nice. If you stay at the “Vendome Hotel” for 33.5 Euros ($49), it is quite possible to end up spending $136 per day. In Paris you will have to spend about $142 daily if you stay at the “Des ArtsHotel,” which costs 38 Euros ($56) per night.
The most expensive travel spots are the capitals of Scandinavian countries and Northern Europe. For example, one day in Stockholm or Oslo will cost you $179.4. Copenhagen stay is only $10 cheaper.
