Caribbean Resorts for the Rich, Famous and You
A few ideas for that trip to paradise you’ve always fancied
If you want to splash out a bit and indulge yourself in the ultimate holiday, sometimes it’s best to follow those people for whom budget is not an issue. Wealthy sun and fun-seekers from all over the world descend on the Caribbean between December and April, looking to escape the drearier climes of Europe and North America.
So for some of celeb-spotting on holiday, as well as flawless beaches, azure seas and good rum on tap, then there are a huge range of Caribbean destinations to choose from. Here’s a look at the more exclusive spots for your dream trip.
Mustique
About as close to paradise as you can get. A short stay on this small, highly exclusive little island might cost you more than a year’s salary… but just look at it.
Antigua
Yachting types like to ‘winter’ in one of the Caribbean’s many natural harbours. English Harbour on Antigua is shown here with its usual collection of pricey craft, and is a favourite port of call for the rich and famous.
Bahamas
Harbour Island is a good place to start for some luxury island living in the Bahamas. This chic spot is famed for its pink beaches on the eastern side of the island, and colourful, flower-lined streets.
Barbados
Barbados holidays have become quite the celebrity hang-out trend, especially since pop-sensation Rihanna has made it her island getaway. The Barbadian singer likes to kick back at her retreat on the coast and let the warm breeze and clear waters wash her troubles away.
Anguilla
A real getaway for jetsetters, Anguilla is not the cheapest option but supplies unspoiled Caribbean charm in bucketloads. If you’ve just had enough of those pesky paparazzi and need to escape to a place nobody knows, or cares, who you are, then this is the place for you.
Grenadines
A huddle of wonderful little islands where the pace of life slows to almost a standstill. For keen divers, there are also some intriguing underwater sculptures to explore, like the one here at Moliniere Bay.
Petit Saint Vincent
With only 22 cottages on this small island, Petit Saint Vincent (or PSV) is a resort for those looking for privacy and peace. Amenities are basic but extremely high quality, and the two miles of white sand beaches are pretty much all yours.
