Do you want to have rocking and crazy time? Visit Libon!!! The picturesque city is full of fashionable cafes, green and alluring parks and brightly shining lights. On the narrow streets you will find so many world-class and artistic cafes that you will hardly believe those are just cafes and not fabulous museums. 🙂 These cafes are ideal for a short break or a rest after a long walk in the city. One of them is A Brasileira (I love how the name sounds!).
A Brasileira
Luxurious cafe A Brasileira is idyllic and stylish, so you will not only appreciate eating here, but will also get a chance to admire the unique combination of modern fashion and deluxe decorations. A Brasileira is one of the oldest cafes of Lisbon opened in 1905. The century-old cafe is situated in elegant Rua Garrett, a popular shopping center in Lisbon. Once you enter, you suddenly feel the presence the presence of Fernando Pessoa, a Portuguese poet who died in 1935. His bronze statue is standing in the cafe. During summer the bronze statue is placed outside the cafe.
The writer would hardly imagine that years later he’d become a popular entertainment for a number of tourists who would come to A Brasileira just to have a photo with him. Once A Brasileira was the favorite place of many cultural people. Debates were being held here. Other than that, various renowned writers wrote their most incredible stories exactly here because of the inspiring surroundings and the magical atmosphere. Amazing wooden booths among mirror walls and chandeliers with numerous lights, little tables with candles under the bright orange umbrellas make this venue more and more attractive.
A Brasileira started as a coffeehouse selling Brazilian coffee and was the first to sell “bica,” a type of strong coffee. Up to now “bica” is the main coffee here. Sandwiches and different snacks are what people prefer to eat and many tourists visit this place not only for the cultural atmosphere, but also for the yummy food. Countless types of subtle wine and cocktails are waiting for you, but take into account, that the coffee of A Brasileira is so tasty that you will hardly think about a cup of wine or any alcohol. Beside, you can have alcoholic drinks in many places of Lisbon, but strong real Brazilian coffee can be found only in this deluxe cafe.
People come here to talk, to discuss and just to have good time. The downstairs seating area is favorite with locals for a set lunch of traditional Portuguese specialties. The staff is very friendly and always smiling, surroundings are perfect to make your time great, so you will never get bored here.
Fortunately it’s open daily from 8am to 2 am.
We wish you crazy time in Lisbon and surely advise to visit this spectacular cafe. And don’t forget to share your photos with Fernando Pessoa after your visit!
