Authorities of the Netherlands plan to ban the sale of soft drugs to tourists to stop the influx of drug addicts and criminals in the country. The project, developed by the Ministry of Justice, Interior and Health of the Netherlands, provides for the sale of soft drugs only to the Dutch registered in a special system, and payment will be possible only via the card issued by the Dutch bank, tied to the ID. Of course, such innovation would deprive the Netherlands a large number of tourists, but officials believe that the overall loss from the disappearance of the tourists who are only interested in drugs, will be less than the harm caused by crime, thriving in the border areas.

We recall that the sale of soft drugs in a limited volume was legalized in Holland in the early 1970’s. However, in the last 15 years, the situation around the marijuana trade has become out of control of the authorities. As a result of comprehensive study conducted by a special commission, the authorities were encouraged to review policies on soft drugs.
All three parties, which the government of the Netherlands is formed of, also agree that it is necessary to prohibit the sale of drugs from cannabis to foreign tourists.
