There is no limit to the power of the human mind and the enchanting city of Dubai is a true example of it. Crammed with glitzy architectural buildings, man-made islands, the world’s largest hotel and the world’s tallest skyscraper, today the country comes to entice millions of visitors with its new addition – the 72000-square-meter Miracle Garden, which is the largest natural garden in the world.
Who could ever imagine? In a region known for an arid climate, how is it even possible to create such a picturesque landscape of blooms? And once more we’ll refer to ‘Human Mind,’ as a whole lot of science has gone into creating this fairy tale garden.
Location
Located in Dubailand – a growing district of Dubai conveniently situated between Jumeirah Village and Dubai Motor City, and famous for its wide range of entertainment, sporting, shopping, leisure and residential amenities, the Miracle Garden was developed by the landscaping company Akar, who employed hundreds of scientists, gardeners and environmentalists from around the world. The project started on November 23, 2012 and inaugurated Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2013. It cost $11 million, and it took four hundred people and more than 2 months to arrange the garden.
What to See
The Miracle Garden contains special vertical and horizontal landscaping designs, each area with special design. The garden is where guests can enjoy more than 45 million flowers of 45 varieties, arranged into mosaics, patterns and shapes, many of which, according to its website are planted for the first time in the Gulf Region. You will come across ordinary flowers like lilies, roses, marigolds, geraniums, and petunias, as well as flowers more often found in the lush jungles of Asia. To help the flowers in growing, an eco-friendly irrigation system uses materials that retain water, such as capillary mats and polymers.
It will probably take you a whole day to see every corner of this impossibly huge and colorful garden, but there are some attractions that are not to be missed. They include: the section full of cars that has plants coming out of the roof and hoods; as well as the awning made of colorful umbrellas; and the strawberry ice cream cone at the concession stand. Of great interest are also the Edible Plants Garden from which visitors can pick their own fruits and vegetables and the unique Butterfly Garden, featuring an impressive array of 10,000 live butterflies (in over 40 different species) bred in the UAE for the first time.
The most breathtaking and biggest natural flower garden in the world, the attraction hopes to gain recognition from the Guinness Book of World records, for containing the world’s biggest flower clock, the longest wall of flowers and the largest pyramid of flowers.
Fees and Best Time to Visit
The Dubai Miracle Garden is open every October to late May, from 10 am until 10 pm on weekdays and 10 am until midnight on weekends and public holidays, and will be closed during Dubai’s summer months, when it can get extremely hot, humid and dry with an average high of around 40°C. During these four months the floral displays will be redesigned, so that repeat visitors will never know they were in the same garden.

Future Additions
Those who have created this awe-inspiring garden have additional plans for the second phase, which will include an indoor cut flower design inspired by Dubai’s iconic buildings, new children’s attractions, a Flower Hills and Mountains themed garden and a retail area with shopping center and several restaurants. What more, a creatively decorated train will be installed to transport visitors around the garden.
