Hotel Gat Rossio is one of the city’s mid-range hotels you can book a room in. It’s not too expensive, nothing near luxury, so don’t expect heavenly pleasures. On the contrary, it’s not too cheap as well, even if you’re on a budget travel, you’ll have to pay a considerable amount of money. 3 stars is what Hotel Gat Rossio has to offer.
The hotel can be a home for people valuing trends and design, at least that’s what the hotel is meant to be for its guests. However, the design of the hotel is focused on one dominating color . . . simple white. Or maybe that just can’t be called simple white, because the rooms seem to be too cold and strict.
Of course, there are other color tints on walls, curtains, bedding, vases, and so on. If you feel comfortable around white interiors, you won’t have a single problem with the design. I personally prefer colorful rooms, warm hues, soft furniture, fireplaces, that’s what comfort means to me. Moreover, the administration has completed refurnishing recently. Thus, you can be sure that nothing will be torn when you arrive.
There are 71 rooms in general, all of which have TVs, free WiFi, air conditioning, heating, and other conveniences. The rooms are not too spacious, but keep in mind that space is not the only criterion for comfort. Balconies are available in only some of the rooms, so if you want to breathe fresh air in the evenings, have a cup of coffee, and enjoy the view to Lisbon, you’ll have to let the reception know and pay a little more . . . just a little more.
There is also an outside terrace for those who don’t have a balcony in their rooms.
Breakfast is very delicious, but don’t expect breathtaking Portuguese dishes. There’s not much variety, but this doesn’t mean you’ll stay hungry.
The location is also convenient. There is a metro station nearby, it will connect you with the rest of the city. It’s close to the Restauradores Square, quite a busy place in Lisbon. There’s also a stop for public transport, so you definitely won’t feel isolated.
The hotel is also in a walking distance from a number of city attractions. Forget about the subway and walk for about 10 minutes to reach from St George’s Castle and Lisbon Cathedral.
Fortunately, there is a public parking space nearby the hotel. You can’t make any reservations and will have to pay a small fee. Pets are not allowed, so your little friend should stay at home. Here’s a good news though, the hotel offers a number of activities to make your stay more interesting. The amenities include a pool, fitness center, spa, health club, exercise gym, Jacuzzi, sauna, game room, and so on.
Of course, it’s not a luxury hotel, you don’t get a heavenly service and conditions. But you don’t pay much here. It’s a good mid-range hotel for those between budget travel and wanting to see the whole city. Take your time and calculate the pluses and minus, only then, make your decision.
