Exciting underwater and gastronomic adventures await the guests of the unique restaurant in the Maldives. Restaurant “Ithaa” (meaning “pearl” in local language) is made of glass and is completely immersed under water, which allows you to go deep into the water world. There is a five meter water column of the Indian Ocean above Ithaa. The visitors can admire the panorama of the sea depths. In other words, it’s a most pleasant place for an exquisite dinner. The restaurant will capture you not only with its unique view but also with a great menu. Note that the dinner there will not cost you an arm and a leg, but it will cost you comparatively much. The most modest cost will make up around $200, tip is not included. Anyway, for those who want to have a totally exotic rest the cost cannot be something to get bothered with.
Aquarium technology has been used to make sure the guests will appear face to face with the underwater world. The rounded and transparent acrylic walls with 270 degrees of panoramic view are but the distinctive feature of Ithaa. Be sure to hear enthusiastic exclamations, though I bet you will also be among those people. Besides, how can someone remain indifferent to the coral fishes and manta rays that seem to be dancing right in front of your eyes, or the huge sea-creatures such as sharks that make their way through the labyrinths of the multiple sea-plants.
An interesting feature has been naturally created, which will attract even more visitors: the corals grow unique underwater gardens. These gardens are super-bright due to their complex construction and variety of shapes. It’s one of the few aquarium places where the floor is not transparent, so you won’t have the impression of walking over the sea-world.
If over-crowded aquarium restaurants are not exactly what you need as the quiet atmosphere is more important to you, then it’s the best spot to visit. Here only 14 people can be served at a time — this creates the illusion of a complete isolation from the outer world and makes the place even cozier. And how relieving and relaxing that spectacular underwater spectacle is!
The menu will also satisfy cuisine gurus. Dishes are not less colorful and exotic than the whole scene. The basis of the menu is the modern cuisine of Maldives (contemporary Maldivian) with local spices and traditional flavors accompanied with a Western twist. However, the restaurant will offer you almost anything you’d love to have if you were, for example, in the best restaurants of London or New York. There is a vast choice of wine with the main supplier being the house of Louis Roederer Champagne (France). Besides that, even if the menu doesn’t include what you want, you can discuss that with the cook who will very possibly cook what you asked.
The only question left is how to get to this secret place. Well, it might sound a bit funny but the restaurant can be reached by a wooden walkway from the nearby over-water Sunset Grill Restaurant, which is too big not to be noticed.
The restaurant is built on the island Rangalifinolhu — one of the twin islands where Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is located (former Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa). The time spent in this water-land restaurant will definitely never be regretted and will hardly be referred to as wasted. It’s simply worth your visit.
