Sorry, we got a little carried away there! Mexico is a fantastic country, well worth spending a week or two in. With some of the most insanely gorgeous beaches on the planet, Mexico is the perfect destination for someone who wants to escape the dreary British winter and enjoy some sun, sand, and surf.
Join us as we travel to some of the best beaches in the Land of Enchantment – we’ve even provided some photos so you can see the beauty for yourself!
Cancun
Although Cancun has a bit of a reputation as a party town attracting hordes of students engaging in drunken revelry (thanks a lot, Spring Break…), in recent years it has strived to clean up its image and is now a very respectable (and very fun!) beach destination.
Boasting 14 glorious miles of pristine white sands, Cancun is ideal for anyone looking to soak up the sun, so you can kick back with a margarita and let the rays wash over you. Rivalling the world’s top leisure destinations, Cancun is everything you could possibly want it to be. Linked with the ancient Mayans, it’s even got the historical factor going for it!
Los Cabos
Located at Mexico’s Land’s End, you get the best of both the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez at Los Cabos. With two distinctly different sides to the area, you have the vibrant party section that is Cabo San Lucas as well as the more laid back and traditionally Mexican town of San Jose.
Once you’ve taken in the golden sands and fully explored the cobblestoned streets dotted with authentic restaurants and boutiques you can head to San Lucas and dance until the sun goes down (and comes back up again!).
Riviera Maya
The area stretches right the way along the coastline of the gorgeous Yucatan Peninsula, facing onto the temperate Caribbean Sea, from the idyllic fishing village of Puerto Morelos all the way up to Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
The coastline of the Riviera Maya was once home to a number of tiny fishing villages, but nowadays it is one of the country’s finest luxury holiday des tinations, serving up a wide range of high class, prestigious beach resorts, spa retreats, golf courses and designer shops.
The beaches are to die for, with the most sumptuous of pure white sands and crystal clear waters more than warm enough to go for a long swim in.
Honestly, if we had to pick one single place as having the finest beaches in Mexico, we’d probably plump for Riviera Maya – they are honestly that good. And if you spend some time at the beach club, you’ll be able to enjoy a vast array of fun activities, including aquatic sports, spa treatments, and some incredible sunbathing. That’s the life for us!
