Airlines continually reduce the permitted volume and weight of luggage, and the size of permissible carried into the cabin baggage at all trying to bring it to a wallet size. However, this doesn’t turn into something to stop the desire to travel and discover the world.
If a little review their established views on the usual things, it turns out that we carry a lot of items with overlapping functions, and hence of luggage. And you can easily throw out half of the unnecessary stuff and leave without a problem to pack a compact suitcase, suitable to the requirements of the most avid airlines.
Shampoo
Despite the fact that most hotels leave the bathroom for our guests a piece of soap, shampoo and shower gel, travelers prefer to operate on the principle of “all its carried with me.” Of course, this view has a right to exist, but judge for yourself, why to take to the trip every conceivable means of washing, when only one bottle of 3 in 1 shampoo would do well with the functions of washing the head, body and even wash clothes. The latter, incidentally, will smell much nicer. And in the end of the trip, throwing out the empty tank, you release the suitcase space for souvenirs.
Dental floss
In addition to its intended use – cleaning interdental spaces, thread renders a good service and as a tool for chopping, no this is not just a joke. Of course, with smoked sausage, it is likely to fail as the stuff is too tough, but the cheese and bread will cut off perfectly. Just do not buy the yarn with taste of mint if you are not planning to have a mint combination! Not everyone will enjoy a similar taste in food. In addition, if folding twice a thread it will become strong enough to retain the light objects such as shampoo washed shorts and socks.
Sarong
Even if you are not a supporter of ethnic style of the clothing, having such a thing in your luggage would be superfluous. In addition to its primary function – protection from wind and sun, this object can be used for multiple other purposes. First, as a towel, because usually the fabric used to produce sarongs, absorbs moisture and dries quickly at the same time. Secondly, the sarong can be used as bedding for a picnic or sheets, if you are forced to stay in a cheap hostel. Thirdly, hanging it in the room which is being shared with somebody else makes this fabric an excellent way to isolate yourself from the others. And finally, if you connect the sides of the sarong, then it would make an excellent portmanteau, for example, for shopping at the supermarket.
Raincoat
Another indispensable traveling thing is raincoat. Use it as a shelter from the rain is much more convenient than an umbrella, because both hands remain free and it turns out to hide under it is possible not only you but also for the precious camera and backpack. In addition, it can be perfectly accommodated even on wet grass, or clamping it under the sleeping bag, if you would like to sleep under the open sky. Handbag, which is usually sold together with the raincoats, is also made of waterproof fabric. It’s another good thing which can be useful not only for putting the raincoat into it, but in order to pack up a wet bathing suit or towel.
Safety pin
Make sure that in your luggage, in addition to the regular needle and thread, you also carry this wonderful and useful item. First, the pins can perfectly well serve as pegs (taking with proportionally less space!).This is especially useful when you are staying in a windy weather and want to hang your clothes. Secondly, it is perfect for replacing the lost button at least temporary. Third, you can button up your backpack or pocket flap with the money inside,. especially when travelling to the foreign country which is not that safe in terms of “pickpockets”. Fourth, a sufficiently large safety pin, if necessary, can be used as an awl.
Swiss Army Knife
Perhaps the only drawback of the subject is the need to take it in the luggage. Otherwise, the knife has some merit. By binding the functions to be performed by this tool should include the provision of proper knife, bottle openers, corkscrews, scissors, screwdrivers (preferably with changeable nozzles), sewing and tweezers. Other additional features such as flashlight, compass or thermometer can be attributed to be a pleasant but not necessary bonus.
Tools in the form of banknotes
Another small and very functional objects made from stainless steel, beautifully situated in any wallet on the spot is the most favorite thing- credit card. Sharpened edge would do well with the function of a small knife. The corners in the form of a screwdriver can tighten the screws, and a slot – the nuts and bolts of four sizes. Opener will reveal not only the bottle, but a tin can. Saw will saw off the small branches for a fire. Overall this means that even such a user friendly thing can serve to be one of the most useful items for the traveler.
Multitasking items
- Do not forget about the items which are specially organized for multiple tasking- such as bags turning into clothes and much more. Another good option is to carry the sets which include the most of necessary items in a compact and multi-purpose sets. They kind of think about every detail for yourself.
- In any case, intending to rest or camping trip, take a look at your luggage in a new way and give up the idea to take the items for each task and decide which of the items can serve for multiple usage. This will save you not only a place in the baggage, but also your own time and energy that would otherwise be spent on unnecessary packaging stuff and will give you self-confidence of the thought “I have not forgotten anything.”
