We have already posted two articles about Paris arrondissements, representing 1th to 5th districts and their most highlighted attractions in Part I, and 6th to 10th districts in Part II, and now we are going to speak about another five neighborhoods and what they have to offer.
11th Arrondissement of Paris
With a unique diversity of atmospheres, a range of lively, charming streets full of large markets and boutiques, elegant trendy cafes and fashionable restaurants, plenty of clubs and bars, fascinating monuments and children’s parks, 11th Arrondissement, situated on the Right Bank of the River Seine, is the most densely populated urban district not just in France but also in Europe. Some of the district’s highlights include the Place de la Bastille with its impressive modern opera house (sharing it with 12th arrondissement), The Edith Piaf Museum, introducing the life and work of the famous singer and songwriter Edith Piaf, Musée du Fumeur, devoted to the habit and practice of smoking, as well as Boulvard Voltaire, Cirque d’hiver – one of Paris’ traditional indoor circuses and the Church of St. Ambroise. This is a place to unwind and have fun all day long!
12th Arrondissement of Paris
Another district that makes up the city of Paris is the family-friendly twelfth Arrondissement with plenty to do and see. Accommodation options also vary greatly in this neighborhood; you will find many hotels to cater every demand, including the well-known Paris Adriatic Hotel, Paris Color Design Hotel and Hotel Jardins de Paris Nation Bercy. It’s a perfect getaway for food enthusiasts as it is home to a great many restaurants sering local and international cuisine, among which Train Bleu and Restaurant L’Oulette are of important significance. From checking out the aquarium in the Palais de la Porte to enjoying the beauty of the Parc Floral to visiting La Maison Rough, one of the newest museums, featuring two temporary art collections per year, the 12th district offers fun, entertainment and a plethora of local pleasures.
13th Arrondissement of Paris
The thirteenth Arrondissement lies in the southeastern part of the City of Light and is a residential and business district housing Paris’s main Chinatown stretching for 13 square blocks around the Tolbiac Metro stop, and a wide selection of high-rise apartment buildings, add to this the Bibliotheque François Mitterrand, the ultramodern Bibliotheque Nationale de France (National Library) and the newly built business area of Paris Rive Gauche. The 13th Arrondissement is also home to Butte aux Cailles – a charming neighborhood, featuring several unusually bright facades. This is one of the more middle than lower class districts of the city with nice accommodation options to suit any budget.
14th Arrondissement of Paris
On the Left Bank of the River Seine, Paris’s most Bohemian 14th Arrondissement is referred to Montparnasse, both the Gare Montparnasse (train station) and the Tour Montparnasse, (the remarkable towering Parisian skyscraper). This is where many world-famous artists and philosophers, like Pablo Picasso, Jean Paul Sartre and others lived. Activities you can indulge in while staying in this arrondissement include: the thrilling Les Catacombes, Parc Montsouris, boasting a series of waterfalls, many statues and large trees, where you can have a great walk around, picnic and the famous Montparnasse Cemetery, the final resting place of many artists. There are also endless galleries and cinemas, like L’Entrepot.
15th Arrondissement of Paris
Sharing the Montparnasse district with the 6th and 14th arrondissements, this is one of the most middle class residential districts in the southwestern inner city and the largest district in size, featuring a fair choice of well-priced vacation rentals, a hive of restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as the Parc des Expositions – Paris’ main exhibition hall. A decent assortment of shops is also found in the 15th Arrondissement.
