As a devoted tourist you have to visit the key attractions of Lisbon, this is like a moral responsibility. But it doesn’t mean that you can’t have some fun for yourself too. And most importantly, there have to be memories to review all your life, to show to your children. Of course, I’m talking about pictures.
You can take pictures of the attractions, people, and about everything interesting you see in the streets. But they will be more interesting to the older-you if you can also see your own face reaction in those photos. Plus, you probably need a new profile picture for your Facebook account.
I’ll leave all historic details and the cultural heritage aside. Here are three awesome places in Lisbon, where you’ll have shots that will make your friends jealous.
Igreja do Carmo
Igreja do Carmo, this awe-inspiring Gothic monument was founded by Nuno Álvares Pereira and is one of the best sites in Lisbon, even if you don’t want to take pictures. The church, which was once the biggest one in the city, is left in ruins now. Despite its current state, Igreja do Carmo is a stunning site and hasn’t lost its delicate Lisbon architecture, especially with its Gothic-style arches that look heavenly during the sunset light.
In reality, due to the walls and the atmosphere of ruins it’s very easy to catch the right lighting. Check this as a must if you want some cool photos from your trip to Lisbon.
Miradouro de Santa Luzia
If you want to have a row of photos with the city view of Lisbon, then Miradouro de Santa Luzia is one of the best spots. More specifically, you’ll have a view to my favorite part of Lisbon, Alfama. The scene of reddish roofs and white walls are unforgettable. Tagus River is also there. So you have a perfect set of Lisbon symbols in your photo. The only missing thing is yourself. Make a fun pose and say cheese!
The terrace is also a perfect place for honeymooners. You will hardly find a more romantic place than this. If you’re a couple, but not on honeymoon, the scene might influence you to make some proposals.
King Edward VII Park
The centerpiece of the park (by the way, named after a British monarch) is the long mosaic maze. It looks fantastic both from above and from within.
Apart from the maze, the two other spots can be an interesting photo-site as well. The first spot is a hothouse containing exotic plants, while the second one is a greenhouse with a whole new tropical world inside. It hides beautiful species of palms, plants, and even a few ponds. You can transfer yourself from Europe to the Amazon nature in a matter of seconds.
In a word, the park is great for nature photos. The only thing that can ruin your day is a pouring rain or cold weather. The latter can be combated with a hot cup of tea or cocoa.
Mark the places on your map and plan a special day for the three of them. Put on the best outfit you have with you, killer make-up or hairdo, and you’re ready to go.
