While in most countries and cities trams have become extinct, Lisbon prides itself with its trams and even offers memorable and quite rich tram tours. But tram tours are not the only way of exploring the Portuguese capital. Irrespective of how romantic you find yourself or how adventurous you are by nature, you will love the river cruise.
The river cruise provides a chance of getting introduced to a completely new Lisbon, which is peaceful and serene and at the same time so mesmerizing and mysterious. The river cruise does not last long – some four hours which you can enjoy starting at 2.30 pm. If you are traveling with your loved one, then you must have already guessed that you just cannot miss this.
We have described Tagus River as the lively artery of Lisbon and we stick to this description as you just can’t imagine Lisbon without the Tagus, just like you will never imagine Paris without the Seine. They are the symbols of these cities and as such they provide a number of entertainments. While comfortably seating in the boat you will be passing by such Lisbon places of interest as the Park of the Nations, the Monument of the Discoveries and The 25th of April Bridge. The river also opens astounding views of Saint George Castle, Sao Vicente Monastery and Jeronimos Monastery. The latter has its worthy place among World Heritage Sites.
The boat passes by Bairro Alto and Alfama districts, which are a top destination for Lisbon tourists. One of the most important things to do is to check if you have your camera with you or not. It’s an absolute must to take pictures. The beauty of Lisbon tends to turn people into story-tellers and several years later these pictures will serve as the proofs of the stories you will be telling your dear ones.
As already said the cruise starts at 2.30 pm and ends at around 6.30 pm. The price is EUR 31 for people aged 11-99. Children aged 5-10 will have to pay half the mentioned price – EUR 15.50 and children under 4 will enjoy the cruise free of charge. The price includes the boat trip, the hotel pickup (it usually refers to centrally located Lisbon hotels) and a guide. Note that food and drinks are not included but since the cruise lasts four hours it is recommended that you take something with you.
