Thailand for decades has been popular among golfers from Asia, with its outstanding fields, excellent climate and hospitality, but players from other continents did not quite like the Thai golf clubs, which are more than 250 across the country. Recently, Thailand has started a campaign “Golf in a Kingdom: The Thai Golf Experience”, which involves the best golf clubs and hotels of the country, designed to attract new golfers from America and Europe.
Tourist authorities in Thailand have concluded a partnership agreement with the eight best golf clubs, the travel agency Golfasian and six best hotels, to start the campaign. The project was planned in 2007, but was implemented only in this month, reports Travel Daily News. The project is to attract to the country new tourists playing golf from different parts of the world, and to show that Thailand – is not only the Thai cuisine, but also excellent golf courses, first class service, friendly staff, unique culture and amazing landscape.
According to statistics, about 3.2 million tourists arrived in Thailand in the first half of 2009 – a 19% lower than last year. The recession could be caused by the volatile political situation in the country or world crisis. Given the popularity of golf around the world, Thailand expects to attract additional tourists through the campaign “Golf in a Kingdom: The Thai Golf Experience”.
