Hawaii is one of the most desired vacation spots in the world. It’s welcoming, warm weather and sandy beaches draws tourists to enjoy in the beauty of the surrounding islands. Enter Waikiki and prepare for a scintillating experience to tease your senses and delight in a true vacation immersion.
If this sounds like a tempting future goal, there are fantastic ideas to prepare for your vacation. Waikiki is a beachfront favorite for tourists. It resides on the south shore of the calm waters island of O’ahu, where luxurious hotels await vacationers. The intimacy of the surroundings and full services appeal to visitors who want to truly relax and leave the worrying behind. Once you arrive, it’s time to consider the next fun phase of the trip.
Where should you start? What should you see? What should you plan?
Your Stay
Select a beautiful destination with a breathtaking look over the Waikiki skyline. From partial ocean views with sprawling king size beds to balcony equipped doubles, you should be able to find an affordable room on the shoreline.
Immersing yourself into the total experience provided by O’ahu and Waikiki is a once in a lifetime experience. Select from a number of modern boutique Waikiki hotels that offer full service accommodations for any and all members of your family. Many of the proprietors designed their hotels so that every room provides gentle breezes, gorgeous sunset views and an intimate experience unlike any other.
Once you have settled in for a restful night of sleep, it’s time to participate in the island life!
Sight Seeing
There are lots of things to see and do on O’ahu. Diamond Head is, obviously, a major tourist attraction. The Pearl Harbor memorial exhibit is a must see. Surfing fans will want to check out Waimea. If you want a calm beach that’s fun for snorkeling and getting up close and personal with the sea turtles, you’ll definitely want to head out to Kawela Bay (aka Turtle Bay). The Lost/Movie tour is really fun too!
If you’re able, try to catch a Frank Delima show. Frank Delima is a local comedian who, among other things, writes Hawaiian parodies of popular songs. Visit the local Waikiki Aquarium for an enchanting under the sea show. The Atlantis Submarine ride will take you through a charming experience of Shangri-La.
The Language
When you visit O’ahu, do not call the people who live there “natives.” Residents (especially the long time residents) prefer “locals.” Also, keep in mind that local residents of O’ahu use a form of English called “Pidgin.”
Pidgin is a combination of formal English, and slang from a variety of languages including (obviously) Hawaiian and the languages spoken in Asia and in Polynesian cultures. It uses very loose English grammar, often dropping articles, adverbs and clarifiers. Pidgin is spoken quickly and, while most tourist locations are staffed with people who are skilled in varying their native tongue, sometimes a few words will sneak in.
From surfing, water sports, beaches, the historic Waikiki Trail and the nightlife, tourists will be treated to a delightful experience of scents, sounds and taste. The nightlife in Waikiki is joyful, the evening bringing with it lively music and exotic drinks. Join the locals in tribal dance and become enchanted by the history as they share their captivating history. Mark the Waikiki experience as a must do as you plan your next vacation. Becoming immersed in the island experience.
Have fun!
