Spain is one of the most important cultural centers of Europe. But what makes it really famous is its wonderful beaches! You can encounter more than 1700 beaches of various types including sea and oceanic, continental and island, sandy and pebbly beaches. You can find longer ones open to all wind and waves, and small private secluded coves where the water is heated gently…
But what is most important for almost all Spanish beaches — they are considered to be ecologically pure. Thus you have nothing to worry about when sunbathing or enjoying some kind of water treatments. Just don’t forget your sun block cream 🙂
Costa Dorada
Costa Dorada (which can be translated as “Gold Coast”) is a part of the Mediterranean coast. You can see golden sparkling sand almost everywhere on these beaches, maybe that’s why they’re called like that.
Costa Dorada is one of the most remarkable places in the country. Every year it attracts thousands of tourists with its extraordinary scenery, mild climate, fresh sea air, unique nature reserves and ancient monuments of the rich local history.
Costa Dorada is located on the Mediterranean coast and stretches from Barcelona to Tarragona. Due to the unique geographical features and the mild Mediterranean climate, this place has become a true paradise for the lovers of outdoor activities. There you can find anything needed for surfing and windsurfing.
Costa Dorada also has a large number of tennis courts, fields, golf courses and riding clubs. Fishing lovers will also find an opportunity to get busy with their hobby. Besides, Costa Dorada with its warm shallow sea and lots of entertainment centers is an ideal place for a family vacation.
Costa Brava
Costa Brava without a doubt is one of the most picturesque places in Spain. It is the northern coast of Catalonia, which stretches from the French border to Blanes. In Spanish Costa Brava means “wild coast” or “brave beach.” Every year, thousands of tourists come here to enjoy a holiday on this beach of extraordinary beauty.
Here the mighty steep mountains stretch for 80 miles along the coast and the coastline, winding with rugged little bays. This place has kept its natural beauty, since it wasn’t attractive for constructions. Scenic sandy beaches, which are protected from the winds with the help of the mighty rock-giants are especially fascinating, their slopes are covered with pine and olive groves.
Costa Brava is still quite a cool shore of the Mediterranean, however, the climate is fairly mild, and the holiday season lasts from June to October. Average temperature during this period is 25-28 degrees, and water temperature in the sea is 21-23 degrees.
Costa Blanca
Costa Blanca (translated from Spanish as “White Beach”) is a resort area on the Mediterranean coast. It extends from the Ebro river delta in the north and to the south up to Andalusia. This area is famous for its unusually warm climate, when all Europe is still mired in winter, you can witness orange and tangerine trees in full bloom in Costa Blanca. It has about 305 days of sunshine a year. In January the average temperature is not lower than 10 degrees, in July and August air is heated to an average of 26 degrees, and the water temperature up to 24 degrees.
Costa Blanca meets the tourists with dazzling radiance of the sun and the sea waves, the purity and whiteness of the magical coastal towns, excellent beaches, surrounded by olive and orange trees, mysterious beauty of architecture, which combines Romanesque, Moorish and Gothic styles with the elements of modernism and futurism, cozy bars and restaurants, the energy of disco and the charm of Public Holidays.
Costa del Sol
Costa del Sol (“sun coast”) is the most southern Mediterranean coast in Spain, which stretches from Malaga to Gibraltar. Resorts of the Costa del Sol are the most prestigious and fashionable throughout the Spanish coast. Many celebrities, aristocrats and owners of large companies have chosen the Costa del Sol as a place for their residences. Here you can feel the typical Andalusian atmosphere of the coast, which is considered to be one of the richest cultural and historical places in Spain. It has its own unique flavor due to the customs and traditions preserved over the centuries.
The climate is mild and warm, and the total number of sunny days per year is significantly more than in the rest of the beaches in Spain. And the bathing season on the Costa del Sol also lasts much longer than in the other resort areas of the country.
By visiting any of the resorts in Costa del Sol, you can visit many interesting places in various cities of Andalusia. You will get an impression that you are actually rediscovering Spain.
Costa Colida
Costa Calida is attracting tourists with one of the most promising resorts in Spain — La Manga. Even the location of the resort is quite unique. The narrow sandy “sleeves” (which is the translation of the name of the beach) are being washed by the stormy waves of the Mediterranean and the warm waters of the lagoon of the Mar Menor (small sea in Spanish). The place is hosting 20 kilometer strip of sandy solid beach. Only there you can swim in two different seas in the same day.
Due to the high salt content and temperature of the iodine in the shallow Mar Menor, the temperature of the water is two degrees more than in the Mediterranean Sea. These sea baths are not only pleasant but also useful because of their healing properties of Mar Menor, which are not inferior to the famous Dead Sea in Israel.
