More and more holidaymakers now prefer to spend their vacations in rented villas rather than in hotels with numerous residents and no free rooms.
In the human perception villa is almost always associated with oligarchs and rich men. In fact, you can easily afford even a three-storey villa in Cyprus — it will not be as expensive as you would think. In such a place you’ll be able to spend your vacation as extremely wealthy people. In addition, if you rent a villa with a lovely piece of land, usually it will be close to the coast. Getting up in the morning and opening the window into a blooming garden, overgrown with saplings of pomegranate trees will make your vacation unforgettable.
The whole island of Cyprus is full of remnants of the unique ancient Greek civilization, that’s why it’s loved by newly married couples, since the myth of Aphrodite (goddess of love) is connected with the island.
Pissouri, Pissouri Bay
The bay is in one of the major vine growing areas of Cyprus. It’s located approximately half way between Limassol and Paphos, so you can explore both places. Pissouri extends from a traditional village on the hillside, down to the sheltered Bay with its clear blue sea. It’s one of the exclusive locations in Cyprus which has managed to retain its traditional Cypriot character, and it’s a great destination for those who are looking for a beach holiday or sightseeing break and for golf enthusiasts.
The beach at Pissouri is the proud recipient of the blue flag award and boasts a shoreline that extends for around two kilometers, from the protection of the Cape Aspro Cliffs in the west to the rockier Mavrorotsos area in the east. The grocery store and the local bank are within quick walking distance of the villa, and a number of informal tavernas and restaurants are offering a selection of local and international cuisine found only 200 meters away along the fringe of the sand and shingle beach.
About 4 kilometres inland is the hillside village of Pissouri, and at the heart of the village you can find a charming pedestrianised square with a good array of tavernas and restaurants. A bank, a post office and a mini market can also be found in the village. During the summer months a traditional Cypriot night takes place in the traffic-free square, with dancing and music enjoyed by visitors and locals alike.
Two golf courses are within 10 minutes drive of Pissouri. Aphrodite Hills boasts the magnificent 18 hole championship golf course designed by acclaimed course architect, Cabell B Robinson, and the Secret Valley Golf Course offers an 18 hole championship course in a spectacular setting in a scenic valley surrounded by mature trees and beautiful sculpted rock formations. The resort of Aphrodite Hills also offers the perfect escape for non-golfers, too, at their award winning Retreat Spa (honored with the top accolade of ‘European Spa of the Year 2008’ at the Professional Beauty Awards). Here you can indulge in the ultimate pamper experience in a sanctuary of calm and tranquility, leaving you feeling refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated.
The sights of Petra Tou Romiou (Aphrodites Rock), Kourium ampitheatre, Kolossi Castle and the World Heritage sites of Paphos are all within a 30 minute drive.
