The 10 Days in Dublin Festival is a festival that covers a range of genres, including poetry, music, theatre, art, comedy, documentaries – just about anything that could possibly be called entertainment.
It’s the third outing for the festival this year when it will run from July 4th to the 13th. In total, 90 artists will be performing at over 25 different locations around the city so there’s sure to be something for everyone!
Sounds great! Who’ll be there?
Comedians – lots of them. Cian McGarrigle and Colm Tyrrell will be performing Glass House Stone Throwers, Barry Mack, Alison Spittle, Conor O’Toole, the Chameleon Comedian – the list goes on. If you like improvised comedy you’re in luck, as a couple of acts are sure to please, including Neil+1 who does his act with a random member of the audience!
Theatre and dance acts are in abundance too, including a Zombie Fairytale and an interactive séance. For the visual arts, the clever Pixelheads exhibition by Shane Gavin renders famous faces in pixelated form while Danny Wynne has a variety of works produced with aerosol spray paint and you can even get involved in the creativity with Debore Ando’s Printmaking workshop where the whole family is encouraged to participate.
The festival will also be showing a collection of short films, an animation showcase and a documentary about water in Africa. There are also plenty of music acts and spoken word performances too which means plenty to see and plenty to get involved with!
How do I get there?
Making your way to Dublin couldn’t be easier. Flights to Dublin depart from various airports, and there’s always the ferry too. Getting around the venues is easy via the LUAS light rail system and the great bus network and there’s always cycle hire if you prefer more freedom and flexibility.
With over 1,000 pubs in Dublin you will never be short of refreshments after a show and excellent seafood restaurants, with produce fresh from Dublin bay, will mean you never go hungry either; whether it’s traditional fare or fine dining.
